We are delighted to announce the appointment of Greek conductor Zoi Tsokanou as the new Music Director of the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra beginning in January 2018. She is serving as Music Director Designate from June to December 2017.
“It is a great honor to be offered this position by one of the most important orchestras in Greece today”, said Zoi Tsokanou, “I am thrilled and happy to work closely with the musicians of the Thessaloniki State Orchestra accomplishing musical, cultural, educational and social projects for the community of my hometown and its region”.
Zoi Tsokanou stands out among the young generation of conductors with her deep sense of musical understanding and exceptional communication skills. Upcoming Engagements include the Orchestre National de Lille, Athens State Orchestra, Domstufen Festival and return appearances with the Greek National Opera.
Currently she is permanent conductor at the Theater Erfurt in Germany where her tenure re started in 2014. In addition she served as music director of the Arosa Music Theater in Switzerland and as associate conductor at the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra.
