Paganini, Brahms, and multi-awarded Greek composer Lina Tonia with Yulianna Avdeeva and TSSO

On March 18, 2022, Zoi Tsokanou will conduct the Thessaloniki State Orchestra (TSSO) and one of the most gifted pianists of our time, Yulianna Avdeeva, whose passion and quality of her performances have captivated audiences and music critics worldwide.

The concert will be held at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall and will begin with the world premiere of the work Oceanus Procellarum by the multi-award-winning Greek composer, Lina Tonia, originally from Alexandria, Imathia, who in 2020 was awarded the title of Composer of the Year at the New York International Music Awards by the Association of American Musicians, Singers and Performers.

Yulianna Avdeeva performs Paganini's Rhapsody on a Theme for Piano and Orchestra, Op. 43, a highly demanding virtuosic work that even intimidated its creator and legendary pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff before he premiered it.

The programme concludes with the masterpiece 'Symphony No. 4 in E minor, op. 98' by Brahms Johannes, which Brahmsians often label it as the composer's “magnum opus”.
